Homemade Brownie Mix

brownieMixJars

This mix is great for a gift idea!  It makes 4 batches, which fit well-packed in a 500ml canning jar!  I love this idea.  Also, if you need to make a dessert very quick, but do not want the hassle or mess; this pre-made mix is perfect.  It has powdered milk; so as long as it is well sealed you should be able to store it in the cupboard for a few weeks, the fridge for longer, or if you really want to store it away in the freezer [to be forgotten about].. maybe you should just gift it 😉

2.5 cups will fit, packed in, into a 500mL canning jar. Lightly tap the jar on the counter to compress the mix; then add more until you reach 2.5 cups.

Since I think this makes a good gift idea, I’m going to include a little image you can print to go along with the mixture as a gift tag. Click Here to Open the PDF.

The next recipe I post will be the actual brownies!

Here is Grandma’s recipe card:

And here is the printable recipe for the mix only:

Homemade Brownie Mix

  • 1 1/4 cup powdered milk
  • 4 cups sifted flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 4 cups sugar
  • 1 1/4 cups cocoa
  1. In a LARGE bowl, stir together all ingredients until well blended.
  2. Mix makes 10 cups Brownie mix.
  3. Separate into 4 portions (2.5 cups each) if the mix is being used as gifts; will make 4 gifts.
TIP: if you have a Tupperware mixing bowl, or a bowl with a lid, just add the ingredients, put the lid on and shake it a few times! This is what I did.
