Mashed Potatoes!<\/p>\n

Just in time for Thanksgiving. \u00a0This recipe is pretty basic, so there is a possibility she wrote this when first learning to cook; as it is in her childhood German notebook\/cookbook. \u00a0But, since I’m a potato lover, this is good, as always.<\/p>\n

For a creamier touch, add cream instead of milk. And for a richer flavor (remember Grandma always had salt available on the table vs too much in her meals) add more salt and margarine.<\/p>\n

Mashed Potatoes<\/h3>\n

  • 2 lbs potatoes<\/li>\n
  • 1 teaspoon salt<\/li>\n
  • 1 cup milk<\/li>\n
  • 1 tablespoon margarine<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    1. Peel (not indicated on Grandma’s recipe, but I think she adapted to peeling them to suit her family’s taste) potatoes. Cook in water with 1 teaspoon salt.\u00a0 <\/span>Once soft, mash.<\/li>\n
    2. Heat milk and margarine separately and add to mashed potatoes.<\/li>\n
    3. Mash potatoes further, season with salt and pepper.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
      TIP: Add cream instead of milk for richer flavor. \u00a0Modify the margarine to suit your taste.
